Removal and Replacement

REMOVAL - ENGINE ASSEMBLY
1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Remove the hood and support from front support.
3. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
4. Drain the cooling system.
5. Remove upper radiator hose and heater hose from the engine.





6. Remove the front crossmember (Fig. 5).
7. Remove accessory drive belt.
8. Remove the power steering pump mounting
10. Remove the lower radiator hose.
11. Remove the windshield wipers and cowl panel.
12. Disconnect the battery feed connector and brake booster hose.
13. Perform fuel pressure release procedure.
14. Disconnect the vacuum lines, evaporative emission harness, fuel lines and accelerator cable.
15. Disconnect the exhaust system at exhaust manifolds.
16. Attach engine-lifting hoist.
17. Disconnect the engine and transmission mounts (Fig. 6).
18. Remove the gear shift lever.
19. Host vehicle. Remove the drive shaft and disconnect torque bar from transmission.
20. Remove the transmission's rear support bracket.
21. Remove the engine and transmission as an assembly.

INSTALLATION - ENGINE ASSEMBLY
1. Attach hoist and lower the engine and transmission into engine compartment.





2. Align the engine mounts and install all mounting nuts. Tighten nuts to specified torque (Fig. 6).
3. Support transmission with floor jack until rear support is installed. Tighten bolts to specified torque (Fig. 6).
4. Remove the engine hoist.
5. Install the transmission inspection cover.
6. Connect the exhaust assembly to exhaust manifold using NEW V-Band clamps. Tighten V-Band clamps to 11 Nm (100 in. lbs.).
7. Install the power steering pump.
8. Install the accessory drive belt.
9. Lower the vehicle and connect all vacuum lines.
10. Connect all electrical connections and ground strap.
11. Connect the fuel lines and accelerator cable.
12. Install radiator hoses and connect heater hoses.
13. Fill cooling system.
14. Fill the engine crankcase with proper oil to correct level.
15. Install the hood support bracket and hood.
16. Connect the battery.
17. Start engine and run until operating temperature is reached.
