Radiator: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from battery.

WARNING: DO NOT REMOVE THE CYLINDER BLOCK PLUGS OR THE RADIATOR DRAIN PLUG WITH THE SYSTEM HOT AND UNDER PRESSURE BECAUSE SERIOUS BURNS FROM COOLANT CAN OCCUR.

2. Drain the cooling system.





3. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
4. Remove the hose clamps and hoses from the radiator.
5. Disconnect the radiator fan electrical connector.





6. Remove the upper radiator mounting nuts.
7. Move the top of radiator until it is clear of the radiator support. Then it can be lifted free from engine compartment. Care should be taken not to damage radiator cooling fins or water tubes during removal.
8. Remove the radiator fan shroud assembly from radiator.

INSTALLATION
1. Install the radiator fan shroud assembly onto radiator. Slide the radiator down into position in behind of the radiator support. The lower rubber isolators must rest in the holes in the bottom of the radiator support .
2. Install the upper radiator rubber mounts. Fasten the radiator attachment nuts to the closure support.
3. Tighten the radiator mounting nuts to 5 Nm (50 inch lbs.).
4. Install the upper and lower radiator hoses.
5. Connect radiator fan electrical connector.
6. Fill the cooling system with coolant.
7. Operate the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature. Check the cooling system for correct fluid levels.
8. Install the air cleaner assembly.
