Heater Core: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
The heater housing must be removed from the vehicle to service the heater core.
1. Disconnect battery negative cable.
2. Remove heater-A/C housing from the vehicle.

3. Remove the insulation seal from atop heater core.

4. Remove heater core retaining screws.
5. Note the position of the heater core. The heater hose tubes are offset and can only be installed in the proper direction.

6. Lift heater core straight up and out of heater housing.

INSTALLATION
1. Install the heater core into the heater-A/C housing. Before connecting heater hoses, fill new heater core with coolant. This will minimize the amount of air trapped within the cooling system.
2. Note the position of the heater core. The heater hose tubes are offset and can only be installed in the proper direction.
3. Install the heater core retaining screws.
4. Install the insulation seal to the top of the heater core.
5. Install the heater-A/C housing into the vehicle.
6. Connect the battery negative cable to the battery.
7. Evacuate the refrigerant system.
8. Recharge the refrigerant system.
9. Refill the coolant system.
