Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair

REMOVAL





1. Remove manifold heat shield from exhaust manifolds.
2. Raise vehicle. Loosen and remove V-Band clamp from exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold connection.





3. Disconnect oxygen sensor electrical connector.
4. Remove bolts attaching manifold to cylinder

INSPECTION





Inspect exhaust manifolds for damage or cracks. Check for distortion of the cylinder head mounting surfaces with a straightedge and thickness gauge.

INSTALLATION
1. Install new gasket and install exhaust manifold. Tighten attaching fasteners to 23 Nm (200 inch lbs.).
2. Connect exhaust pipe to manifold and install NEW V-Band clamp. Tighten clamp to 11 Nm (100 inch lbs.).
3. Connect oxygen sensor electrical connector.
4. Install heat shields and tighten attaching fasteners to 6 Nm (50 inch lbs.).
