Inspect the stabilizer bar, bushings, bushing retainers, for cracks, distortion, deterioration or damage. If stabilizer bar to frame rail bushing replacement is required, the bushings can be removed from stabilizer bar by opening slit in bushing and peeling the bushing off the stabilizer bar.
Inspect the stabilizer bar links for any of the conditions which are listed below. If any of these conditions are found when inspecting the stabilizer bar links, the link will require replacement. Do not attempt to repair a stabilizer bar link.
- Inspect the links for any bending of the center section of the link.
- Inspect the ball joint seal boots for holes, tears, cracks, and any type of deterioration. If any of these conditions are found, the link will need to be replaced.
- Inspect the ball joints of the links for any visible end play or excessive looseness. If any of these conditions are found, the link will need to be replaced.
- Inspect the ball joints of the links for binding. If a ball joint on the link is binding, the link will need to be replaced.
- Check the link mounting points at the stabilizer bar and lower control arm to be sure the mounting nuts are tight. If required, tighten the nuts to the specified torque.
