Throttle Body: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

Fig. 13 Disconnecting Throttle Cable:




1. Slide throttle cable end from throttle cam (Fig. 13).
2. Disconnect throttle position sensor electrical connector.
3. Remove throttle body mounting bolts. Remove throttle bodies and linkage.

INSTALLATION
1. Mount left side throttle body, tighten bolts to 11 Nm (97.3 in. lbs.).
2. Install the connector linkage on the right side throttle body. The throttle body lever fits in a notch in the linkage lever, and must be inserted first, then insert the linkage ball into the shaft nut orifice.

3. Insert the ball on the opposite end of the linkage into the shaft nut orifice of the left side throttle body. The linkage lever will fit behind the cam, so that as the cam is rotated the connector linkage will rotate also (Fig. 14).
4. With the connector linkage in place, mount the right hand throttle body, tighten the bolts to 11 Nm (97.3 in. lbs.).
5. Connect electrical connector to throttle position sensor.
6. Adjust throttle cable. Refer to Throttle Cable Adjustment.
