Sport Shims
The Viper is equipped with sport shims which can be TEMPORARILY removed if the vehicle is going to be used in a sporting event such as an Autocross. There are 2 sport shims used on each side of the vehicle's front suspension. There is one sport shim located at each of the front upper control arm pivot bar to frame attaching studs.
The sport shims can be TEMPORARILY removed which will change the front camber angle negatively by 1°. This 1° negative change in camber angle will allow the Viper to exhibit higher cornering power than when the camber angle set to the production camber specification. The vehicle can then be returned to production camber specifications without the necessity of doing two complete front suspension alignments.
When sport shims are removed, front wheel static toe must be reset to production specifications. This can be done using a trammel bar and does not require using an alignment rack.
When sport shims are replaced, front wheel static toe must again be reset to production specifications. This can also be done using a trammel bar and does not require using an alignment rack. All other alignment settings will not be changed from production specifications.
NOTE: The increased camber angle is not recommended for normal driving on the street, because abnormal tire tread wear will occur.
