Exhaust Resonator: Service and Repair
REMOVAL(1) Raise vehicle on hoist and remove the side sill panel (rocker panel cover). Refer to BODY and FRAME for procedure.
(2) Apply penetrating oil to band clamps of component being removed.
(3) Remove muffler. Refer to Exhaust system, Muffler, Service and Repair.
(4) Disconnect and remove downstream oxygen sensor.
(5) Remove resonator/intermediate pipe isolator.
(6) Remove resonator/intermediate pipe.
INSTALLATION
(1) Install resonator/intermediate pipe to catalytic converter pipe. Do not tighten band clamps at this time.
(2) Install the muffler, but do not tighten band clamps at this time.
(3) Install resonator/intermediate pipe and muffler isolators. Tighten bolts to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.).
(4) Tighten band clamps to 70 Nm (55 ft. lbs.).
(5) Install downstream oxygen sensor and tighten to 27 Nm (240 inch lbs.). Connect wiring to oxygen sensor.
(6) Install side sill panel (rocker panel cover). Refer to BODY and FRAME for procedure.
