The valves are arranged in-line in the cylinder heads and are inclined eighteen degrees. The valves (Fig. 7) are made of a high heat-resistant steel. They are chrome plated to prevent stem scuffing.
The valve guides are made of hardenable iron. The guides are pressed-in inserts in the cylinder heads. Viton valve stem seals provide positive sealing.
Dual valve springs (Fig. 7) control high lift camshaft profiles and high engine speeds. Single-groove valve retainers and locks are used to retain the valve springs. Spring seats protect the aluminum cylinder head.
