Crankshaft: Description and Operation
DESCRIPTIONThe forged-steel crankshaft is supported by six main bearing caps. The No. 3 bearing controls crankshaft thrust (end-play). Crankshaft end sealing is provided by front and rear oil seals. The crankshaft rotates clockwise when viewed from the front of the engine. The No. 5 counterweight has an integral circular disk with ten notches used for ignition system timing.
