Extension Housing Seal Replacement

REMOVAL
1. Raise vehicle.
2. Remove drive shaft assembly.

3. Remove old seal with Seal Remover C-3985.
4. Clean and inspect extension housing where the seal was located.

INSTALLATION

Fig. 5:

1. Start the seal into housing. Then tap seal into place with seal installer C-3995 or C-3972.
2. Reinstall drive shaft assembly.

CAUTION: The drive shaft strap bolts use a Loctite patch for retention on initial installation. These screws must be replaced with new pieces whenever they are removed.

CAUTION: Replace drive shaft joint straps whenever they are removed. The straps slightly deform when torqued in place. Reuse of the straps may result in reduced clamp load on the universal joint cap.
