P1719A Skip Shift Solenoid Circuit (Non OBD II)

NAME OF CODE
P1719 ($22) Skip Shift Solenoid Circuit

WHEN MONITORED
With the engine at operating temperature, rpm above 608, vehicle speed at 12-18 mph, transmission in 1st gear, and light to moderate throttle. With these conditions met, the PCM actuates the solenoid, enabling a shift from 1st to 4th gear for economy.

SET CONDITION
The skip shift solenoid control circuit is not in the expected state when requested to operate by the PCM.

THEORY OF OPERATION
With monitoring conditions met, the skip shift solenoid is actuated by the PCM to lock out the possibility of shifting in 2nd or 3rd gear. The PCM looks for current changes when actuating the solenoid. Without changes for a set time, the PCM sets this trouble code.
