P0463 Fuel Level Sending Unit Volts Too High
NAME OF CODEFuel Level Sending Unit Volts Too High
WHEN MONITORED
Ignition on and battery voltage above 10.4 volts.
SET CONDITION
The fuel level sensor signal voltage at the PCM goes above 9.9 volts for more than 90 seconds.
THEORY OF OPERATION
The Fuel Level Sending Unit (Fuel Level Sensor) sends a variable voltage to the Powertrain Control Module to indicate fuel level. The purpose of this feature is to prevent false setting of misfire and fuel systems monitor codes when the vehicle is operating at low fuel levels.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
- Open/high resistance in sensor signal circuit
- Open sensor ground circuit
- Defective fuel level sensor
- Powertrain control module
