P0460 Fuel Level Unit No Change Over Miles

NAME OF CODE
Fuel Level Unit No Change Over Miles

WHEN MONITORED
Engine running and fuel level either below 15% or above 85% of capacity.

SET CONDITION
The PCM sees low fuel, less than 15%, for more than 120 miles or fuel level stays above 85% of capacity and does not change by at least 10% for more than 100 miles.

THEORY OF OPERATION
The Fuel Level Sending Unit (Fuel Level Sensor) sends a variable voltage to the Powertrain Control Module to indicate fuel level. The purpose of this feature is to prevent false setting of misfire and fuel systems monitor codes when the vehicle is operating at low fuel levels.

POSSIBLE CAUSES
- Defective fuel level sensor
- Obstructed/defective fuel tank
- Powertrain control module
