Upper

The front upper control arm used on the Viper, is an aluminum casting. It contains the front upper ball joint, which is threaded into outer end of upper control arm and is not a replaceable component of the control arm.

The upper control arm is attached to the front steering knuckle of the vehicle. Attachment to the front steering knuckle is through a tapered stud which is part of the upper ball joint.

The upper control arm is mounted to the frame using a pivot bar which is isolated from the upper control arm by 2 rubber bushings.

Sport shims are located between the upper control arm pivot and the frame of the vehicle. This shim is removable if the vehicle is to be used for a vehicle sporting event. Removal of the shim will reset the camber angle of the front suspension improving vehicle handling for such events. Shims are to be replaced before the vehicle is used for normal street usage.

The replaceable components of the upper control arm are the isolator bushings and the ball joint seal.
