Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair
WARNING: THE REFRIGERATION SYSTEM MUST BE COMPLETELY EMPTY BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THIS OPERATION.NOTE: Special effort must be used to keep all R-134a system components moisture-tree. Moisture in the oil is very difficult to remove and will cause a reliability problem with the compressor.
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect negative battery cable from battery.
2. Remove hood and hood support.
3. Remove air ducts located in front of the air cleaner assembly and air cleaner assembly.
Condenser Inlet:
4. Remove bolt retaining condenser inlet line to condenser.
Condenser Outlet:
5. Remove bolt retaining condenser outlet line to condenser.
Condenser Mounting:
6. Remove the three rivets retaining condenser mounting bracket to radiator closure panel.
7. Pull up and out on condenser and remove. Care should be taken not to damage condenser cooling fins or refrigerant tubes when servicing condenser.
INSTALLATION
For installation,
1. Replace all O-rings and gaskets, coat all sealing surfaces with approved refrigerant oil (ND8 PAG).
2. Reverse the above procedures.
3. Evacuate and Charge system.
