Exhaust Manifold: Description and Operation

The exhaust manifold to catalytic converter connection is secured by a V-Band clamp. When the V-Band clamp is tightened, it forces the flared mating surfaces of the manifold and catalytic converter pipe together for sealing and support of the joint. The flexible section on the catalytic converter pipe absorbs engine movement. The V-Band clamp must be replaced if removed.
