Component Tests and General Diagnostics

1. Before inspection, set vehicles in the following condition:
- Engine coolant temperature: 80 - 95°C (176 - 203°F)
- Lights*, electric cooling fan, and accessories: OFF
- Transaxle: Neutral (P range on vehicles with A/T)
- In vehicles for Canada, the headlight, tail light, etc. will remain lit even when the lighting switch is turned OFF but this is no problem.

2. Connect the scan tool to the data link connector.





3. Attach a three-way joint to the vacuum hose between the fuel pressure regulator and the intake manifold, and connect a vacuum gauge.
4. Start the engine and check that idle speed is within specification.

Standard value: 800 ± 100 r/min

5. Check the manifold vacuum.

Limit: min. 60 kPa (18 in.Hg)
