Windows: Description and Operation
INTRODUCTIONThe window lift motors are of the permanent magnet type. A battery positive and negative connection to either of the two motor terminals will cause the motor to rotate in one direction. Reversing current through these same two connections will cause the motor to rotate in the opposite direction.
Each individual motor is grounded through the switch.
CIRCUIT OPERATION
The power window system used in this vehicle uses a single switch. Power for the switch is supplied on circuit F21. This circuit is protected by a 25 amp circuit breaker.
Power for the circuit breaker is supplied on circuit A22 from the fuse block. The A22 circuit is HOT in the RUN position only Ground for the switch is supplied on circuit Z8.
Drivers Window Operation
When the operator selects window DOWN operation for the drivers window circuit F21 is connected to circuit Q21. The Q21 circuit connects to the drivers power window motor. Ground for the motor is supplied on circuit Q11 back to the switch. A bus bar internal to the switch connects the Q11 circuit to the Z8 ground circuit.
For window UP operation the power and ground circuits are reversed. Circuit Q11 is the feed and Q21 is the ground.
Passengers Window Operation
When the operator selects window DOWN operation for the passengers window circuit F21 is connected to circuit Q22. The Q22 circuit connects to the passengers power window motor. Ground for the motor is supplied on circuit Q12 back to the switch. A bus bar internal to the switch connects the Q12 circuit to the Z8 ground circuit.
For window UP operation the power and ground circuits are reversed. Circuit Q12 is the feed and Q22 is the ground.
