Dimmer Switch: Testing and Inspection

Panel Dimmer Switch:

1. Remove panel dimmer switch and disconnect wire harness connector.
2. Using a Multimeter, check panel dimmer switch wire connector:
a. Turn headlamp switch to the ON position. Test cavity 1 for battery voltage. if OK, go to Step 2. If not OK, check fuse and/or circuit and repair as necessary
b. Turn headlamp switch to the OFF position. Check cavity 3 for continuity to ground. If OK, go to Step 3. If not OK, check the ground circuit and repair as necessary
c. Connect panel dimmer switch to the wire harness connector. Turn the headlamp switch to the ON position. Test cavity 2 at the wire side of the connector for voltage, turn knob and check for a voltage change. If not OK, replace panel dimmer switch. If OK, check circuit and repair as necessary.
