Data Link Connector: Description and Operation
Fig. 14 Data Link Connector:
DATA LINK CONNECTOR-PCM OUTPUT
The data link connector (diagnostic connector) links the DRB scan tool with the PCM (Fig. 14). The data link connector is located inside the vehicle, below instrument panel to the left of the clutch pedal.
SCI RECEIVE-PCM INPUT
SCI Receive is the serial data communication receive circuit for the DRB scan tool. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) receives data from the DRB through the SCI Receive circuit.
CIRCUIT OPERATION
The universal data link connector is used to link the scan tool with the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
Power for the universal data link connector is supplied on circuit F13. This circuit is HOT at all times and protected by a 20 amp fuse located in cavity 19 of the fuse block. Power for the fuse is supplied on circuit A5. This circuit originates in the Power Distribution Center (PDC) and is protected by a 30 amp fuse located in cavity 13.
Ground for the universal data link connector is supplied on circuit Z12.
Circuit D20 and D21 are used for SCI communications between the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and the universal data link connector.
Circuits D1 and D2 are used for CCD communications between the PCM, universal data link connector, Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module, and the Airbag Control Module (ACM).
