Drain and Refill

The lubricant recommended for this differential is Mopar (R) High Performance Synthetic Axle Lube SAE 75 W/140 (MS-8985), or equivalent. A container of Mopar (R) Gear Additive (friction modifier) should also be added after a lubricant change.
1. Drive the vehicle until the differential lubricant is at the normal operating temperature.
2. Raise vehicle on hoist.
3. Remove differential fill plug.
4. Install a fluid transfer pump into the rear axle fill hole. Remove (draw out) the axle fluid from the axle assembly. Completely drain fluid from axle.
5. Fill the rear axle with SAE 75W/140 Synthetic Axle Lube, or equivalent. The rear axle fluid capacity is 45 fluid ounces. This includes four ounces of friction modifier.
6. Reinstall differential fill plug. Tighten fill plug to 21 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
