Exhaust System: Description and Operation
GENERAL INFORMATION
The exhaust systems is a unique design. The system has a catalytic converter on both sides of the vehicle and one muffler. The two downstream oxygen sensors are located between the catalytic converters and the muffler.
FLEX JOINT COUPLING
A flex joint coupling is used to secure the exhaust pipe to the engine manifold. This flexible joint actually moves as the engine moves, preventing breakage that could occur from the motion of the engine. The exhaust joint consists of two bolts, two flag nuts and a joint gasket which is a separate part of the exhaust system.
