Radiator: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect negative battery cable from battery.
WARNING: Do not remove the cylinder block plug or the radiator draincock with the system hot and under pressure because serious burns from coolant can occur.
2. Drain cooling system.
3. Remove air cleaner assembly.
4. Remove hose clamps and hoses from the radiator. Disconnect fan electrical connection.
5. Remove upper radiator mounting nuts.
6. Move top of radiator until it is clear of radiator support then it can be lifted free from engine compartment. Care should be taken not to damage radiator cooling fins or water tubes during removal.
7. Remove fan shroud assembly from radiator.
INSTALLATION
1. Install fan shroud assembly onto radiator. Slide radiator down into position in behind of the radiator support. The lower rubber isolators must rest in the holes in the bottom of the radiator support.
2. Install upper radiator rubber mounts. Fasten radiator attachment nuts to closure support.
3. Tighten radiator mounting nuts to 6 Nm (50 inch lbs.).
4. Install upper and lower radiator hoses. Connect cooling fan electrical connection.
5. Fill cooling system with coolant.
6. Operate engine until it reaches normal operating temperature. Check cooling system for correct fluid levels.
7. Install air cleaner assembly.
