B. RE-Route the Rear Oxygen Sensor Wiring

NOTE:
Only those vehicles that display a constant left oxygen sensor voltage reading in Section "A", Step 10, require the following repair.

1. Turn off the ignition.

2. Raise the vehicle on the hoist.

3. Pull the harness clip from the body and then disconnect the left (driver side) rear oxygen sensor connector.

4. Route the wiring harness that was connected to the left sensor over the top of the parking brake cables toward the right rear sensor.

IMPORTANT:
The wiring must be routed over the parking brake cables to prevent it from contacting the driveshaft.

5. Connect the rerouted harness to the right rear sensor.

6. Secure the connector to the parking brake cable using the one of the specified tie straps (Figure 2).

7. Route the wiring harness that was connected to the right sensor over the top of the parking brake cables toward the left rear sensor.

8. Connect the rerouted harness to the left rear sensor.

9. Wrap the left rear sensor connector back against the wiring harness to take up any slack/excess wiring. Secure the connector to the main wiring harness using one of the specified tie straps (Figure 3).

10. Lower the vehicle.

11. Start the engine and let it idle until the system is in closed loop operation. Verify that both rear oxygen sensors are operating properly. (Two rear sensor readings should display variable voltage.)

12. Erase any fault codes using the DRB III.

13. Disconnect the DRB III.
