A. Inspect Rear Oxygen Sensor Wiring
1. Connect the DRB III to the diagnostic connector.2. Proceed to the sensor monitor screen on the DRB III and locate the left and right rear (downstream) oxygen sensor readings.
3. Start the engine and let it idle until the system operates in closed loop.
4. Monitor the rear oxygen sensor readings, verify that the sensors are functioning normally.
5. Turn off the ignition.
6. Raise the vehicle on an appropriate hoist.
7. Disconnect the right (passenger side) rear oxygen sensor connector (Figure 1).
8. Lower the vehicle.
9. Start the engine and let it idle until the system is in closed loop operation.
10. Monitor the rear oxygen sensor readings.
^ If the right rear oxygen sensor reading is constant (about 4.6 volts), the wiring is properly routed, continue with Step II.
^ If the left rear oxygen sensor reading is constant (about 4.6 volts), the wiring is mis-routed, continue with Section B.
11. Turn off the ignition.
12. Raise the vehicle on the hoist.
13. Reconnect the right rear oxygen sensor.
14. Lower the vehicle.
15. Erase any fault codes using the DRB III.
16. Disconnect the DRB III.
17. No further action is necessary, skip to Section C.
