EMISSIONS RECALL TO INSPECT YOUR VEHICLE'S REAR OXYGEN SENSOR WIRING AND REROUTE IT IF NECESSARY

Dear Dodge Viper GTS Owner:

It has been determined that some 1996 Dodge Viper GTS coupes may be in violation of California Emissions Standards.

The problem is...

The rear oxygen sensor wiring on your Viper GTS (identified by the Vehicle Identification Number on the enclosed form), may be incorrectly routed. This may cause the on-board catalyst monitor to be non-functional and may illuminate the "Check Engine" light.

What Chrysler and your dealer will do...

Chrysler will repair your vehicle free of charge (parts and labor). To do this, your dealer will inspect the rear oxygen sensors for proper operation and, if necessary, reroute the sensor wiring. The service will take less than 1A hour but additional time may be required depending on how service work is scheduled and processed.

What you must do...

^ Simply contact your Dodge dealer to schedule a service appointment.

^ Bring the enclosed Owner Notification Form with you to your dealer. The form explains the required service to the dealer.

If you don't get this done...

The State of California requires the completion of emission recall re~airs prior to vehicle registration renewal. In addition, the State requires that every vehicle must pass an emission test (SMOG Check) every two years and before it is sold. Without the free service we are providing, your vehicle may be more likely to fail this test and require that you make costly repairs.

Further, in order to ensure your full protection under the emission warranty provisions, it is recommended that you have your vehicle serviced as soon as possible. Failure to do so could be determined as lack of proper maintenance of your vehicle.

How the state knows that the recall has been performed...

State of California regulations require Chrysler to provide the Department of Motor Vehicles with a record of all vehicles which have not had the recall service performed. If your vehicle is not on this list, the state will know that the recall has been completed.

Your dealer will provide you with a Vehicle Emission Recall Proof of Correction Form after the recall service is completed. Be sure to save this form since the California Department of Motor Vehicles may require that you supply it as proof of recall completion.

If you need help...

If you have trouble getting your vehicle repaired, please call the Chrysler Customer Center, toll free, at 1-800-992-1997. A representative will assist you in getting your vehicle repaired.

We are sorry for any inconvenience, but trust you understand our interest in clean air and in your continued satisfaction with our products. Thanks for your attention to this important matter.
