Manifold Vacuum Check

1. Before inspection, set vehicles in the following condition
^ Engine coolant temperature: 80 - 95° C (176 - 203° F)
^ Lights*, electric cooling fan, and accessories: OFF
^ Transaxle: Neutral (P range on vehicles with A/T)
2. Set up the tachometer or connect the scan tool to the data link connector.
3. Remove the plug of the manifold vacuum connector assembly, and connect a vacuum gauge.
4. Start the engine, and check that the curb idle speed is within 750 ±100 RPM
5. Check the manifold vacuum should be a minimum of 60 kPa (18 inches Hg)

* In vehicles for Canada, the headlight, tail light, etc will remain lit even when the lighting switch is turned OFF but this is no problem.
