Circuit Operation
CIRCUIT OPERATIONThe Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is supplied power from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) on circuit K7. The K7 circuit connects to cavity 7 of the PCM.
The vehicle speed signal is an output of the VSS on circuit G7. The G7 circuit connects from the VSS to the Ignition Control Module (ICM) cavity 24. The ICM processes this signal and sends it to the PCM on the MUX line. This is the D37 circuit which connects to cavity 15 of the ICM and to cavity 37 of the PCM.
The PCM processes the vehicle speed sensor signal and sends a signal to the speedometer on circuit G17 indicating vehicle speed. For additional information on speedometer operation, refer to group Gauges.
The G17 circuit is double crimped at the bulkhead connector and supplies an input back to the ICM.
The PCM provides a ground path for the VSS signal (circuit G7) through circuit K4. Circuit K4 connects to cavity 43 of the PCM connector.
