Rocker Arm Replacement
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect spark plug wires by pulling on the boot straight out in line with plug.
2. Disconnect closed ventilation system and evaporation control system from cylinder head cover.
3. Remove cylinder head cover and gasket.
4. Remove two rocker pedestal bolts per each cylinder.
5. Remove rocker arms assemblies as a pair.
6. If rocker arm assemblies are disassembled for cleaning or replacement. Assemble rocker arms in their original position.
INSTALLATION
1. Install rocker arm and pedestal assemblies with the stamped steel retainers into position, tighten to 40 N-m (30 ft. lbs.).
WARNING: THE ROCKER ARM PEDESTAL BOLTS SHOULD BE TORQUED DOWN SLOWLY. ALLOW MINUTES TAPPET BLEED DOWN TIME AFTER INSTALLATION OF THE ROCKER BOLTS BEFORE ENGINE OPERATION.
2. Clean cylinder head cover gasket surface. Inspect covers and gaskets for distortion and replace if necessary.
3. Clean head rail. Install a new gasket if required and tighten cylinder head cover fasteners to 11 Nm (95 in. lbs.).
4. Install closed crankcase ventilation system and attach water tube.
5. Install spark plug wires and wire separator.
