INSTRUMENT PANEL REPLACEMENT








1. Disconnect battery.
2. Remove right and left side knee bolsters.
3. Remove steering column.

a. Remove lower coupler bolt, in the engine compartment.
b. Remove toe plate bolts.
c. Remove upper mounting bolts.
e. Disconnect all wire connectors.
f. Remove column.

4. Remove instrument panel center bezel and disconnect the cigar lighter and fog lamp switch wire connectors (Fig. 9). Disconnect battery negative cable and isolate or remove fuses 2 and 7 prior to removing switch or wires may short to ground.
5. Remove gear shift handle. Remove tunnel trim bezel for clearance when removing instrument panel.
6. Remove headlamp pull knob and shaft. Press button on top side of headlamp switch and pull knob and shaft to remove (Fig. 16).
7. Remove instrument panel bezel (Fig. 10).
8. Remove six screws securing the instrument panel at the fence line and two nuts attaching in center of panel (Fig. 19).
9. Lift upward on instrument panel to clear roll up ramp. Roll the instrument panel back to allow hands in the rear of panel.
10. Disconnect wiring connectors.

a. Body wiring connectors.
b. Brake light switch, and bulk head wiring connectors.
c. Blower motor lead connection.
d. Temperature control cable from the heater unit.
e. Vacuum lines from the heater control assembly.

11. Remove instrument panel from vehicle.
12. Remove instrument panel wiring.
13. Remove meters, gauges and message center.
14. Remove radio and heater control.
15. For installation reverse above procedures.
