"B" Pillar Appliques Poor Fit/Appearance

THIS BULLETIN SUPERSEDES TSB 23-32-95 DATED JUN. 9, 1995 WHICH SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM YOUR FILES AND TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 23-100-94 DATED DEC. 30, 1994 WHICH SHOULD BE NOTED IN THE 1994 TSB BOUND BOOK (PUBLICATION NO. 81-699-95054). PARTS AND REPAIR PROCEDURES HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY REVISED. THE BLACKOUT TAPE PART NUMBERS HAVE CHANGED IN REVISION A AND ARE HIGHLIGHTED WITH **ASTERISKS**.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

"B" Pillar appliques are loose or wavy on doors.

AR 4814052 Watershield, Right Rear (Required Only if Missing or Badly Damaged)

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves replacing all four "B" Pillar Appliques with black out tape.

1. Remove door trim panel.

2. Remove plastic watershield to gain access to door glass and glass run weatherstrip. Use care. Watershield must be replaced intact.

3. Remove window belt molding screw and belt molding.

4. Remove door glass.

5. Pull glass run weatherstrip from door glass opening frame.

6. Remove door "B" pillar weatherstrip from front edge of rear doors.

7. Remove all four "B" Pillar appliques regardless of condition. If one part is bad, all must be replaced.

8. Clean surface of door with 50-50 isopropyl alcohol/water mix. Make sure all adhesive from applique and weatherstrip are removed. If paint has any imperfections, smooth with 1200 grit sandpaper and clean surface again.

9. Align black out tape to proper position at top of door, front and rear. Use a piece of masking tape across both doors to mark position.

FRONT AND REAR DOOR BLACK OUT TAPE MUST ALIGN AT TOP.

10. Apply tape to "B" Pillar surface from top to bottom with a foam block or squeegee. Tape may be applied dry or with a 50-50 mix of isopropyl alcohol and water.

11. Carefully wrap tape around hem flange and glass run flange. Make sure all bubbles/alcohol water mix are removed.

12. Repeat procedure on remaining doors.

13. The center molding attaching clips will scratch paint off the door sheetmetal as they are removed. To prevent corrosion, coat the scratches liberally with Mopar Corrosion Inhibitor, P/N 82300068, just prior to installing the new moldings.

14. Install "B" pillar weatherstrip (rear doors), glass run weatherstrip, door glass, watershield, door trim panel, and window belt molding.

IF WATERSHIELDS ARE MISSING OR DAMAGED, REPLACE AS REQUIRED FROM THE PARTS SECTION OF THIS BULLETIN. IF WATERSHIELDS ARE NOT DAMAGED, RESEAL WATERSHIELD TO DOOR SHEETMETAL WITH MOPAR WEATHERSTRIP ADHESIVE, P/N 4773774, OR EQUIVALENT. WATERSHIELDS MUST BE INSTALLED INTACT IN ORIGINAL LOCATION.
