Steering Column Scrapping Noise

MODELS:
1995 (JA) Cirrus/Stratus

NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE DEC. 5,1994 (MDH 12-05-XX).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Plastic scraping noise coming from steering column as wheel is turned.

DIAGNOSIS:

Road test vehicle in a quiet area. If noise can be heard, perform repair procedure.

PARTS REQUIRED:

1 4798475 Clockspring Spacer

REPAIR PROCEDURE:




This bulletin involves installing a spacer on the top side of the clockspring.

1. Remove the steering wheel as described on Page 8M-6 of the 1995 Cirrus/Stratus Service Manual (Publication No. 81-270-5121).

2. Remove the protective backing and install the clockspring spacer, P/N 4798475, as indicated in illustration.

3. Install steering wheel as described on Page 8M-7 of the 1995 Cirrus/Stratus Service Manual (Publication No. 81-270-5121).
