Lack of Power, Sluggish

SYMPTOM DESCRIPTION
Engine delivers less than expected power. Little or no increase in speed, when accelerator pedal is pushed down part way.



POSSIBLE CAUSE ACTION



Contaminated fuel - Check for water or excessive alcohol in fuel.

- Drain fuel tank and add clean fuel.


Contaminated catalytic converter - Check for missing fill pipe restrictor.

- Replace catalytic converter.


Low fuel pressure - Check fuel pressure.


Restricted fuel filter/line - Repair/replace as required.


Throttle valve not fully opening - Check accelerator pedal travel, (floor mat/carpet interference) check throttle cable adjustment.


Throttle body deposits - Clean or replace throttle body as necessary.


Restricted air filter - Clean or replace filter.
