Fuel Pump: Service and Repair

Fuel Pump Module:

REMOVAL
1. Remove fuel tank.
2. Disconnect fuel supply and return hoses from fuel pump module.
3. Disconnect vent hose from pressure relief/rollover valve.
4. Loosen band clamp until fuel pump module can be lifted from tank.

Fuel Pump Module:

5. Tilt fuel pump module to one side so fuel level sensor will clear tank, and remove module.

INSTALLATION
1. Install new gasket on replacement fuel pump module.
2. Install fuel pump module into fuel tank.
3. Seat fuel pump module by applying pressure on top of module. Tighten band clamp to 31 in-lbs (3.5 Nm).

CAUTION: DO NOT over tighten fuel pump band clamp.

4. Connect vent hose to pressure relief/rollover valve.
5. Connect fuel supply and return hoses to fuel pump module.
6. Install fuel tank.
7. Use the DRB II to select the Automatic Shut Down (ASD) Fuel System Test to pressurize fuel system and check for leaks.

CAUTION: Unless the test is stopped or the ignition switch is turned to the OFF position the fuel pump relay and the ASD relay will remain energized for 7 minutes by the ASD Fuel System Test.
