Fuel Injector: Service and Repair
Fuel Injector Connector:
NOTE: Fuel system pressure must be released prior to any service of fuel injection components.
NOTE: Tag injector electrical connectors for proper cylinder identification.
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect negative battery cable, and remove fuel tank cap.
2. Disconnect injector electrical connector.
3. Remove injector hold down clamp.
Injector Removal:
4. Rotate injector until connector faces intake plenum. With a screwdriver pry injector from manifold. (Do not use excessive force.)
5. Remove O-rings from injector.
Injector O-rings:
INSTALLATION
1. Install new O-rings on replacement injector, and lube with clean motor oil.
2. Push injector into manifold, and rotate until connector faces center of intake manifold.
3. Install injector hold down clamp.
4. Install injector electrical connector.
5. Connect the DRB II scan tool and select the Automatic Shut Down (ASD) Fuel System Test to pressurize fuel system and check for leaks.
CAUTION: Unless the test is stopped or the ignition switch is turned to the OFF position the fuel pump relay and the ASD relay will remain energized for 7 minutes by the ASD Fuel System Test.
