Variable Induction Position Sensor: Description and Operation

Induction Control Valve Position Sensor Circuit:

LOCATION
Located in the Variable Induction Control Valve Servo assembly, mounted to the intake manifold near the front of the engine.

OPERATION
The sensor measures the induction control valve opening in degrees. This is then converted into a pulse signal and measured by the Engine Control Module (ECM). This signal is used by the ECM to control the opening and closing of the induction control valve.

The induction control valve position sensor receives both a 5 Volt power supply, and ground from the ECM. A 5 Volt signal is applied from the ECM to the two output terminals of the sensor. The sensor generates a pulse signal by, opening and closing the ground circuit of the output terminals.
