DISCUSSION:
The 1994 Viper Service Manual (Publication No. 81-270-4150) contains several helpful tips and improved procedures for servicing the engine and its related systems. This information, specifically in the piston, piston ring sections, makes servicing the engine easier, faster and complete.
The 1994 Viper Service Manual should be used when performing any service on the Viper engine. This is especially true when working on pistons or piston rings on the 1992 and 1993 model year vehicles. Also, it should be noted that honing of the cylinder bores on low mileage vehicles (5000 miles or less) is not recommended.
A new piston ring parts kit has been released to service the pistons/piston rings on the Viper V10 engine When replacing the pistons or rings on this engine use Package 4761938.
