Control Unit Test

Active Exhaust Control Circuit:

The exhaust control module is located in the LH rear side body panel. To test the exhaust control module, proceed as follows.

COMPONENT TEST
1. Start the engine and let it idle.
2. Locate exhaust control actuator motor in the LH rear side body panel.
3. While watching the exhaust control actuator motor, switch the muffler mode switch to sport and touring positions.
4. Verify movement of exhaust control actuator motor.
5. While watching the exhaust control actuator motor, connect a jumper wire between exhaust control module harness connector terminal 4 and ground.
6. Verify movement of exhaust control actuator motor.
7. Start engine and rev to above 3500 rpm.
8. Verify movement of exhaust control actuator motor.

HARNESS TEST
1. DIsconnect the ECM harness connector.
2. Turn the ignition switch "ON".
3. Using a volt meter, measure the voltage between the ECM harness connector terminal 102 and ground.

If any of the previous tests produce unsatisfactory results, the harness will need to be repaired or replaced. Once repairs have been completed, confirm that the repair has corrected the problem.

If the trouble returns, it is possible that there is an intermittent failure of the component or the ECM. Check for looseness at all harness junctions and test for an intermittent failure.
