Fuel Pump Ballast Resistor: Testing and Inspection
COMPONENT TESTFuel Pump Resistor Location:
1. Disconnect the Fuel Pump Resistor connector.
Testing Fuel Pump Resistor:
2. Measure the resistence between the connector terminals.
RESISTANCE
0.6 - 0.9 ohms
HARNESS TEST
Fuel Pump Circuit:
1. Disconnect the Fuel Pump Resistor connector.
2. Measure the voltage available at the Fuel Pump Resistor terminal 1 with the ignition key in the START position.
Voltage:
System Voltage
3. If the voltage is not as specified, check the Fuel Pump Relay II and the wiring harness.
4. Disconnect the Fuel Pump connector.
5. Measure the resistance between the Fuel Pump terminal 1 and the Fuel Pump Resistor terminal 2.
Continuity:
Should exist.
6. If there is no continuity, check the wiring harness between the Fuel Pump and the Fuel Pump Resistor.
