Active Exhaust System Control Module: Description and Operation

Active Exhaust Control Unit

Active Exhaust Control Circuit:

PURPOSE
The exhaust control module controls exhaust noise by opening and closing a valve inside the muffler, redirecting the exhaust gasses past the baffles.

LOCATION
Exhaust control module is located in the LH rear side body panel.

OPERATION
The valve is operated by a DC motor. The ECM controls a signal that is monitored by the exhaust control module. When the control module receives an ECM signal, either from the dash switch or engine rpm above 3500, it reverses current flow to the motor and moves the valve to the appropriate setting.
