Loose Lower Door Applique

MODELS:

1993 (AP) Sundance/Shadow/Shadow Convertible

NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO 2-DOOR "ES" AND "DUSTER" MODELS.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Some vehicles may exhibit a condition where the forward edge of the lower door applique is loose and may show an excessive gap.

PARTS REQUIRED:

1 (Per Side) Rivet 6032731

9 (Per Side) Rivet 6032856

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves relocating and installing a retaining rivet in the lower front door(s) applique retaining bracket.





1. Open the affected door(s) to gain access to the lower door applique attaching rivets. Drill out the nine rivets with a 4 mm (5/32") drill. Refer to Figure 1.

2. Grasp the applique with both hands and carefully pull up (not out) to release the top of the applique from the groove in the metal retaining bracket on the door.





3. Drill a 4 mm (5/32") hole approximately 26 mm (1") rearward of the existing front rivet on the metal retaining bracket. Use Mopar Scratch Filler Primer (P/N 4436636) or equivalent on the new hole. Install rivet P/N 6032731 through the retaining bracket and door. Refer to Figure 2. Remove the front rivet if it is broken or loose and seal the hole with RTV. Do not install another rivet in this location.

4. Re-install the lower door applique over the metal retaining bracket making sure not to extend the applique beyond the front edge of the door. Install 9 rivets, P/N 6032856 through the lower edge of the applique.

5. Repeat steps 1-4 for the opposite door if necessary.
