"Thumping" Noise From The Rear Of The Vehicle


MODELS:

1992 (AG) Daytona (AP) Sundance/Shadow/Shadow Convertible


SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Some vehicles built between MDH 022119 and 030608, may experience a "Thumping" noise from the rear of the vehicle (similar to a loose shock absorber). The noise will usually occur when the fuel gauge reads 3/4 to 7/8, during a light acceleration from a standing start or during braking.


DIAGNOSIS:

If the vehicle exhibits these conditions and the MDH is between 022119 and 030608, proceed with the following repair.


PARTS REQUIRED:

1 Fuel Level Sending Unit Package 4723105

Package Contents:
1 Fuel Level Sending Unit 5217842
1 Seal, Fuel Sending Unit 3404451


REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This repair involves replacement of the fuel level sending unit with a revised one.

Remove the fuel level sending unit from the fuel tank as outlined on page 14-13 of the 1992 Front Wheel Drive Service Manual, Publication #81-27-2102, and install the revised unit.

Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.
