Turn Signal Does Not Cancel Automatically
NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT PRIOR TO JULY 5, 1991 (MDH 07-05-XX).
MODELS:
1991-1992 (B7) STEALTH
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The turn signal does not automatically cancel after making a left turn, although cancellation can be made manually. This may be caused by interference of the ratchet lever and a bracket within the column left side switch.
PARTS REQUIRED:
2 Shim 9411834
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This procedure involves installing two shims in the left column switch (turn signal switch).
1. With the ignition key in the OFF position, disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the upper and lower steering column covers.
3. Remove the left side switch from the column switch assembly. DO NOT DISCONNECT THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS CONNECTOR.
4. Loosen the two switch cover attaching screws located on the right side (steering shaft side) of the switch (Figure 1).
5. Insert one of the shims, PN 9411834, on each screw between the cover and the switch case (Figure 1).
6. Tighten the cover attaching screws.
7. Install the column left side switch by reversing the above procedure.
8. Verify that the turn signal will automatically cancel when the steering wheel is returned to the center position.
