DISCUSSION:


When engine service requires the removal of the camshaft belt auto tensioner on the DOHC engines, perform the following revised procedure:

REVISED PROCEDURE:


1. Clean and inspect both auto tensioner mounting bolts.


2. Coat the threads of both bolts with MOPAR Thread Sealant PN 4318034.


NOTE: IF NEW BOLTS ARE USED, INSPECT THE NEW BOLT HEAD. IF THERE IS A DAB OF WHITE PAINT ON THE BOLT HEAD, NO SEALANT IS REQUIRED. IF THERE IS NO DAB OF WHITE PAINT ON THE BOLT HEAD, APPLY A COAT OF THREAD SEALER.


3. Install the auto tensioner and tighten bolts to 17 ft.lbs. (24 N-m) torque.
