Throttle Position Sensor: Adjustments

1. Loosen the tension of the accelerator cable.

Throttle Position Sensor:






2. Disconnect the Throttle Position Sensor connector.

Throttle Position Sensor Test:






3. Connect an ohmmeter between terminals # 3 and # 4, using lead wires with alligator clips.

Throttle Lever Adjustment:






4. Insert a 0.65 mm (0.0256 in.) feeler gauge between the Fixed SAS and the throttle lever.

Throttle Position Sensor Adjustment:






5. Loosen the TPS mounting bolts, then turn the TPS counterclockwise completely.
Continuity should exist at this time.

6. Slowly turn the TPS in a clockwise direction until continuity is broken.

7. Tighten the installation screws.

8. Reconnect the the TPS electrical connector.

DOHC Throttle Position Sensor Connector:






9. Without disconnecting the Control Unit connectors, connect a voltmeter to the Control Unit.

10. Without starting the engine turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and check the TPS output voltage. 0.4-1.0 volts
If the voltage is out of specification, test the Throttle Position Sensor, its electrical connections and wiring harness.

11. Turn OFF the ignition switch.

12. Remove the feeler gauge.

13. Adjust the tension of the accelerator cable.
