T-Top Weather Strip: Service and Repair
A & B Pillar Caps:
"A" and "B" PILLAR TRIM CAP
Removal
1. Remove three 3. Phillips head screws.
Installation
1. Install three 3. screws.
Roof Weatherstrip Replacement:
ROOF WEATHERSTRIP
Removal
1. Remove hatch assembly and store in safe place.
2. Spray adhesive release agent in weatherstrip channel.
3. Loosen with putty knife or similar tool.
4. Remove screws from weatherstrip at butt joints.
5. Clean retainer channel with mild solvent.
Installation
1. Starting at "B" pillar, install new weatherstrip working forward.
2. Secure with suitable weatherstrip adhesive.
3. Lubricate weatherstrip with silicone spray.
4. Fit seals and secure with screws.
5. Check side glass and hatch seals and adjust as necessary.
B-Pillar Seal Retainer:
"B" PILLAR SEAL RETAINER
Removal
1. Remove "B" pillar weatherstrip seal.
2. Remove five screws.
3. Remove any butyl tape that may remain on reveal moulding.
Installation
1. Apply strip of butyl tape to retainer.
2. Install five screws.
3. Install weatherstrip seal.
A-Pillar Retainer:
"A" PILLAR SEAL RETAINER
Removal
1. Remove screw and "A" pillar seals.
2. Remove screws from "A" pillar seal retainer.
3. Remove retainer and butyl tape.
Installation
1. Place strip of butyl tape on retainer, trim ends.
2. Position retainer and install screws.
3. Position "A" pillar seals and install screws.
P Seals, Escutheons And Outer Mouldings:
"P" SEALS, ESCUTCHEONS, AND OUTER MOULDINGS
1. Remove and protect glass assemblies from damage.
2. Drill out rivets in moulding retainers with 1/8 inch drill bit.
3. Remove "P" seals by pulling free.
4. Using retained "P" seals as patterns, cut "V" cuts into new "P" seals, then discard old seals.
5. If outer mouldings are to be replaced, pry carefully away from body.
6. Seal rivet holes with butyl sealant.
7. To install, reverse above procedure.
Locks, Side Rail Seals, And Glass Panels:
SIDE RAIL SEALS
Removal
1. Remove glass panels, place on soft surface.
2. Spray an adhesive release agent under edge of seal and let soak.
3. Remove two screws at ends of weatherstrip.
4. Remove seal.
5. Clean remaining excess sealant from seal area.
Installation
1. Apply weatherstrip adhesive to back of new seal.
2. Position seal and install two screws.
3. Seal ends of new seal by applying an 1/8 inch bead of silicone around entire perimeter of end tabs, and smooth with finger.
4. Adjust seals and rods as necessary to make a seal around entire hatch and door glass.
DOOR FRAME SEALS
Removal and Installation
1. Remove three screws from front seal.
2. Remove two screws from back seal.
3. Lift off seals.
4. To install, reverse above procedure.
