Depressurizing the Brake Fluid System

Some operations require that hydraulic tubes, hoses, and fittings be disconnected for inspection or testing purposes. This brake system uses a hydraulic accumulator which, when fully charged, contains brake fluid at high pressure. Before disconnecting any hydraulic tube, hose, or fitting, be sure that the accumulator is fully depressurized.

WARNING: Failure to depressurize the accumulator may result in personal injury and/or damage to painted surfaces.

Some diagnostic procedures require the use of the MST-61 63 pressure gauge with the 6491-A and 6505 adaptors to measure accumulator pressure during certain phases of anti-lock brake operation.

WARNING: Failure to depressurize the accumulator prior to installing or removing the MST-6163 Pressure Tester may result in personal injury and/or damage to painted surfaces.
