REVISED SERVICE PROCEDURE

This bulletin covers the bulb replacement procedure for the fog/off road lamp assembly. Replacement bulb, PN 5207799, is available through normal parts supply channel.

Please make a note in your 1988 and 1989 Front Wheel Drive Electrical, Fuel & Emission Service Manual (Publication # 81-270-8003 & 9003), Pages 8L-8 (1988) and 8L-7 (1989) referencing to this Technical Service Bulletin # 08-14-89.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

AA and AG Bodies

1. Locate and disconnect the fog lamp 2-pin wire connector behind the front bumper.





2. Remove the two (2) screws just below the fog lamp lens (Figure 1).

3. Remove the fog lamp assembly.

4. Disengage rubber harness boot from socket cover and disconnect wire connectors.





5. Rotate the plastic bulb cover on the bottom of the fog lamp approximately 1/8 of a turn counterclockwise and remove the cover (Figure 2).





6. Disengage the bulb spring wire retainer, remove the bulb and wire (Figure 3).

7. Install the new bulb and reassemble by reversing the above procedure.

NOTE:
BE SURE To REMOVE All CORROSION FROM THE BULB SOCKET BEFORE INSTALLING THE NEW BULB.

8. Aim the fog lamp, consult local state laws for setting specifications.

AH and AP Bodies

1. Remove the two (2) lens housing screws from the front of the lamp assembly and remove the lens housing from the lamp body.

2. Disengage the bulb spring wire retainer, remove the bulb and wire.

3. Install the new bulb and reassemble by reversing the above procedure. BE SURE WHEN INSTALLING LENS HOUSING THAT THE LENS MARKING "TOP" IS UP.

NOTE:
BE SURE TO REMOVE ALL CORROSION FROM THE BULB SOCKET BEFORE INSTALLING THE NEW BULB.

4. Aim the fog lamp, consult local state laws for setting specifications.
