7B Ignition System Primary Control Circuit

Complete No Start Test 7, Step A, before proceeding.

1. With ignition switch in Off position, disconnect 14-way electrical connector from SMEC.
2. Connect an ohmmeter between negative terminal of ignition coil and terminal No. 12 of 14-way electrical connector.
3. If ohmmeter shows continuity, replace SMEC.
CAUTION: Before replacing the engine control module, check the J5 terminal in cavity No. 12 of the 14-way connector to make sure that it is not spread apart causing a poor connection.
4. If ohmmeter shows no continuity, locate and repair open circuit in black/yellow wire of terminal 12.
